Tene-

A melting pot of Old & New, Secular & Religous, Negev & Hebron

The community Tene Omarim was founded by a small group of secular idealists who sought to settle the Negev 31 years ago. Tene is situated thirty minutes north of Beer Sheva on the border of the Hebron Hills and the Negev.

Following Israel's disengagement from Gaza, the citizens of Tene (as it is called by locals) reached a brave decision to absorb a group of 12 religious families from Gush Katif and thus transform the community to one of handful of small communities in the Negev with this type of diversified population.

Since its founding, the yishuv has grown significantly, with of new families all the time-- both religious and secular.
